Backyard Poultry Boost: 45 Farmers Receive Chicks in Mithakhari

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 5: In an initiative to promote self-employment and rural livelihood, the Veterinary Dispensary at Elephant Point distributed day-old Vanaraja chicks to 45 farmers from the villages of Ograbraj, Muslimbasti, and Mithakhari under the jurisdiction of Gram Panchayat Mithakhari. The distribution took place at the Panchayat Bhawan and was accompanied by a short training session on poultry management practices.

The event was attended by Lalita Tigga, Block Development Officer; Mohd. Safiq, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Mithakhari; and Sanjali Soren, Senior Veterinary Officer, among others. The initiative is part of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services’ efforts to promote backyard poultry as a sustainable source of income for rural households. Mohd. Safiq lauded the department for its valuable contribution to empowering farmers and promoting livelihood security in the region.
