The Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ tourism sector is set to gain national and international exposure with the Directorate of IP&T planning to participate in the South Asia’s Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) 2026, scheduled to be held in New Delhi later this month.
According to an official communication issued on Thursday, the event will take place from February 25 to 27, 2026 at Yashobhoomi and is being viewed as a key platform to project the tourism potential of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands before a wide spectrum of industry stakeholders, travel professionals and buyers from India and abroad.
In this connection, the Directorate of IP&T has invited registered tour operators, travel agents and other reputed tourism stakeholders from the islands to participate in the event alongside the department. Interested participants have been asked to submit their willingness in writing to the Directorate on or before February 23, 2026 by 11.30 am.
Officials said the proposed participation aims to strengthen the visibility of the islands as a diverse tourism destination, highlighting experiences ranging from leisure and adventure tourism to eco-tourism and cultural travel. The department’s presence at SATTE is expected to facilitate business-to-business interactions and create opportunities for collaborations with tour operators, hoteliers and destination management companies operating across domestic and international markets.
The advisory clarified that expenses related to travel, lodging and boarding for participating stakeholders would have to be borne by the participants themselves. The Directorate, however, indicated that participation alongside the official tourism delegation would offer island stakeholders a valuable opportunity to directly engage with the larger travel trade ecosystem.
SATTE is considered one of South Asia’s largest travel and tourism exhibitions, drawing participation from national tourism boards, state tourism departments, tour operators, airlines, hospitality groups and technology providers. Industry observers note that participation in such platforms is increasingly important for destinations seeking to revive and expand tourism outreach in a competitive post-pandemic market.
For local tour operators from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the event is expected to provide direct exposure to buyers and partners who influence travel itineraries and holiday packages, particularly in the inbound and domestic tourism segments. Officials said showcasing the islands in a curated, professional setting could help position the destination more effectively among travel planners.
The Directorate of IP&T has advised interested stakeholders to coordinate with the department for further details regarding participation modalities. Contact details of the Manager (Tourism) have been shared for facilitating communication and clarifying procedural aspects related to the event.
Tourism remains one of the key economic sectors in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, supporting a wide network of small businesses, transport operators, guides and hospitality establishments. The department’s decision to participate in SATTE 2026 is being seen as part of ongoing efforts to sustain momentum in tourism promotion and market engagement.
Officials said further updates related to the department’s activities at SATTE would be shared with participating stakeholders in due course, once the list of participants is finalised.
