Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 27: Andaman and Nicobar Islands has gained a place in an international space-science programme with Sujata Lall selected for Phase 2 of ShakthiSAT, an initiative focused on encouraging young girls to explore space science and satellite technology.
ShakthiSAT Phase 2 was officially launched on August 23, 2026, with participation from 108 countries. The programme brings students and delegates together to provide exposure to space-related learning, satellite technology and opportunities for international interaction and collaboration.
India selected 20 students for participation in the programme. The selection followed registrations from around 3,000 students across India, from which the 20 participants were chosen. Sujata Lall from Andaman and Nicobar Islands secured a place in the Indian selection.
The programme is designed to give selected participants exposure to space science and satellite technology through practical learning. It also provides an international platform for interaction and collaboration among participants from different countries.
