Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 21: A Class IX student from Navy Children School, Minnie Bay, has been selected to represent the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at the National Level Science Seminar after winning the State Level Science Seminar organised for school students in the Islands on the theme ‘Indian Energy Basket 2047: Prospects and Challenges’.
The state-level seminar was organised by the Deputy Director Education (Sci.) at the Conference Hall of Shiksha Sadan, Sri Vijaya Puram, on September 21. The programme was open to students from Classes VIII to X and brought together participants representing all three districts of the Islands.
Kumar Siddhant Nambiar of Navy Children School, Minnie Bay, emerged as the winner after participants presented their views on the seminar topic before an evaluation panel. Kumar Abhinav Nair of Class X from Government Secondary School, Keralapuram, secured the runner-up position.
The seminar featured presentations by six students, followed by interactive question-and-answer sessions. The participating schools included Navy Children School, PM SHRI GMSSS Hutbay, GSS Keralapuram, VKZPV, Diglipur, PM SHRI GSSS Vijay Nagar and GSSS Malacca.
The presentations were assessed through a rigorous evaluation process, following which Nambiar was declared the winner. S Suresh Kumar, State Project Officer (SS), Shiksha Sadan, attended the event as the chief guest.
Nambiar will now carry the Islands’ representation to the national-level competition scheduled for October 30, 2026, at the National Science Centre in New Delhi.
The state seminar provided students from different parts of the Islands with a platform to present their understanding of the challenges and prospects associated with India’s energy basket through structured presentations and an interactive assessment.
