Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 14: The Haj Committee of India has invited online applications for the selection of one State Haj Inspector (SHI) from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for Haj 2027, opening the recruitment process for eligible government employees to assist in the conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
According to the notification, the Haj Committee of India, Mumbai, will select one State Haj Inspector from the Union Territory. Applications can be submitted online from August 13, while the last date for submission is August 27, 2026.
The opportunity is open to permanent employees of the Central Government, State Governments, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), paramilitary forces, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings under the Central and State Governments. Applicants must not have attained the age of 50 years.
The notification specifies that senior officers holding Group ‘A’/Class I posts in the Central Government, including positions carrying Entry Pay Level-10 and above under the Seventh Central Pay Commission, or equivalent posts in State Governments, are not eligible to apply.
The selection process will include a Computer-Based Test (CBT), Interview/Personality Test and Medical Examination, with final selection based on candidates’ performance in these stages.
The Haj Committee of India stated that it will bear 50 per cent of the expenditure, including the fixed allowance payable to the selected State Haj Inspector. The remaining 50 per cent will be borne by the Andaman and Nicobar Islands UT Haj Committee, subject to receipt of funds from the Union Territory Administration. The notification further states that if such funding is not received, the selected candidate should be prepared to bear that portion of the expenditure from personal funds.
If more than one eligible application is received within the stipulated period, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands UT Haj Committee will undertake the process of selecting a suitable candidate.
Detailed information regarding eligibility conditions, the selection process, tentative schedule, roles and responsibilities of the State Haj Inspector has been made available by the Haj Committee of India. Applicants may also obtain information from the office of the Chairperson, Andaman and Nicobar Islands UT Haj Committee, located in Room No. 309 on the second floor of the Directorate of Social Welfare Building at Goalghar.
The recruitment process is intended to identify a suitable State Haj Inspector from the Union Territory for Haj 2027 through the prescribed selection procedure.
