Andaman & Nicobar Police Celebrate 74th Raising Day with Combat Demonstration, Cultural Events

The Andaman & Nicobar Police marked their 74th Raising Day with a series of high-profile events highlighting discipline, skill, and community engagement. The celebrations were anchored by a spectacular Un-Armed Combat (UAC) Demonstration at the historic Flag Point, showcasing the physical and mental prowess of personnel trained at the Police Training School in Prothrapur.

The UAC demonstration underscored the force’s commitment to the policing principle of “Minimum Force, Maximum Control,” reflecting a professional and citizen-friendly approach. The programme began with basic combat techniques, including punches, blocks, kicks, and movement drills, followed by a precise KATA performance emphasizing balance, coordination, and control. Demonstrations of real-life defence techniques covered knife attack defence, stick attack defence, neck grip defence, arrest lock techniques, and weapon defence.

A highlight of the showcase was the Fire Ring Jumping Demonstration, symbolising courage, confidence, and dedication to duty, which elicited loud applause from attendees. An Ice Breaking Demonstration further highlighted mental strength and determination. Senior officers, distinguished guests, and members of the public witnessed the event, commending the high standards of training and professionalism displayed.

Alongside the combat exhibition, the celebrations included a traditional Badakhana organised by the North & Middle Andaman District Police. The event fostered camaraderie and unity among personnel across all ranks, reinforcing mutual respect and the spirit of togetherness within the force.

The Raising Day programme also featured cultural presentations, including skits on crime prevention and law enforcement, as well as singing and dance performances by police personnel, highlighting the creative and social engagement of the force.

Recognition of service and excellence was another key element of the celebrations. Awards and prizes were distributed to officers from all units of the N&MA District Police in acknowledgement of their exemplary performance, dedication, and professionalism.

Officials noted that the 74th Raising Day events reflected the dual priorities of the Andaman & Nicobar Police: readiness to respond effectively to challenges and maintaining ethical, restrained policing that respects human rights. The celebrations combined operational demonstrations, cultural engagement, and formal recognition, reinforcing public confidence and morale within the force.

The Raising Day programme this year was designed not only to mark the historical formation of the police but also to showcase modern policing capabilities, community outreach initiatives, and a sustained focus on discipline, skill development, and citizen-centric service.
