Andaman and Nicobar Administration to Hold Beach Games 2025 Across Three Districts

Date:

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are set to witness a coordinated push for beach sports and youth participation with the organisation of Beach Games 2025 across all three districts from December 19 to 21. The event is being organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, A&N Administration, in coordination with the Education Department, following directions issued at the administrative level.

The Beach Games will be conducted simultaneously at multiple locations, including Corbyn’s Cove Beach in South Andaman, Karmatang Beach in North and Middle Andaman, and Jayanthi Beach at Lapathy in Car Nicobar. The multi-venue format is aimed at ensuring wider participation and accessibility for athletes and youth across the islands.

In Car Nicobar district, the event will take place at Jayanthi Beach, Lapathy, featuring competitions for both men and women in an open category. The Games are designed to provide a platform for athletes to showcase their skills in a range of beach sports disciplines while encouraging active involvement of youth in organised sporting activities.

Across the districts, the Beach Games will feature a diverse set of competitions, including volleyball, kabaddi, tug of war, 50-metre and 100-metre sprint events, football in a seven-a-side format, beach sepak takraw, beach mallakhamb and pencak silat. The inclusion of multiple disciplines reflects an effort to cater to varied sporting interests and skill sets.

In South Andaman, events will be held from December 19 to 21 at Corbyn’s Cove Beach, starting from 3 pm onwards. Participants from government and private schools, colleges, institutions, organisations, youth clubs and the general public have been invited to take part. Entry forms are being made available at the Administration Block of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Netaji Stadium, Sri Vijaya Puram, with submissions scheduled to close on December 18.

Officials have indicated that there will be no entry fee for participation, in line with efforts to encourage mass involvement. The event also carries a broader social message, with organisers aiming to promote the idea of a drug-free society under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan through sports-based engagement.

A key focus of Beach Games 2025 is youth participation and the promotion of excellence in sports. By hosting the event across multiple districts and beach locations, the administration aims to foster a sporting culture that leverages the islands’ natural coastal environment while providing structured opportunities for competition.

The Games are also expected to contribute to talent identification and skill development among young athletes, particularly in disciplines that are less commonly featured in conventional sporting events. Officials noted that beach sports offer unique physical and technical challenges, making them valuable additions to the sporting ecosystem of the islands.

With coordinated planning across districts and departments, Beach Games 2025 is positioned as a significant event in the islands’ sports calendar. The administration has indicated that further details and logistical support will be provided through the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs as the event dates approach.
