Preparations are in full swing for the 10th edition of the Andaman Marathon 2026, scheduled to be held on February 8 under the joint organisation of the Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ANCCI) and the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. The event will be officially flagged off at 5:15 am from the National Memorial Cellular Jail by Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Lieutenant Governor of the Islands and Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency.

Participants have been instructed to assemble at Cellular Jail by 4:30 am for a pre-run briefing. Marathon kits, including T-shirts and bibs with electronic timer chips, will be distributed on February 7 from 9 am to 5 pm at Netaji Stadium.

The marathon features multiple categories, offering cash prizes totaling Rs 10,05,000. The half marathon (21 km) is open to Indian nationals above 18 years, with first, second, and third prizes of Rs 1,00,000, Rs 60,000, and Rs 40,000, respectively. Additional categories include 10 km runs for men and women, 10 km seniors, and 10 km boys and girls (ages 14–17), as well as a 2 km race for children aged 10–13. Each category carries a corresponding cash prize structure, with separate allocations for male and female participants.

The half marathon route spans key city points, including Cellular Jail, Khan Junction, Water Sports Complex, Corbyn’s Cove Beach, Dollygunj, Dairy Farm, Phoenix Bay, and Netaji Stadium. The 10 km, 10 km seniors, and 10 km boys and girls races follow a slightly shorter loop through major landmarks such as the Ramakrishna Mission Chowk, Flag Point, and ANIIMS Hostel. The 2 km and Run-for-Fun categories trace similar city streets to ensure inclusivity for younger and casual participants.

Comprehensive traffic and parking arrangements have been coordinated with the A&N Traffic Police. Vehicles belonging to senior officials and marathon organisers will be accommodated near the old AYUSH Hospital, while participants are requested to use the swimming pool and stadium parking facilities.

The event highlights the Administration’s focus on promoting fitness, sports culture, and tourism in the Islands. With detailed planning for race routes, participant logistics, and prize distribution, the marathon aims to provide a smooth and engaging experience for athletes and spectators alike.
