Sri Vijaya Puram, June 8: Aspiring law students in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will soon be able to apply for admission to a five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. programme, with Andaman Law College announcing the opening of its online admission process for the academic session 2026-27.
According to a press note issued by the institution, applications for the integrated law course will be accepted through the Common College Admission Portal (CCAP) from June 9 to June 30, 2026, until 4 p.m.
The programme is being offered by Andaman Law College, a constituent college of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Institute of Higher Learning (NSCBIHL), a deemed-to-be university based in Sri Vijaya Puram.
College authorities stated that the institution has applied to the Bar Council of India (BCI) for approval to commence the B.A. LL.B. (Honours) programme. Admissions will therefore be subject to the receipt of the necessary approval from the statutory body governing legal education in the country.
The announcement marks a significant development in higher education opportunities available within the islands, particularly for students interested in pursuing careers in law, legal services, public administration and the judiciary.
The five-year integrated programme combines undergraduate studies in arts and law, allowing students to complete both components within a single academic framework. Such integrated courses have become increasingly popular across India as they enable students to begin professional legal education immediately after completing their higher secondary studies.
Officials said eligible candidates interested in securing admission have been advised to submit their applications online through the CCAP portal within the prescribed timeline. No applications submitted after the deadline will be considered.
The college has also urged prospective applicants to carefully review the admission guidelines before completing the online process. Candidates have been advised to download the e-prospectus for the academic year 2026-27, which contains details regarding eligibility requirements, admission procedures and other academic information.
Authorities emphasized that applicants must ensure they meet the prescribed eligibility criteria before submitting their forms. Incomplete applications are liable to be rejected, and the college will not accept admission forms submitted directly to the institution outside the online portal.
The introduction of the integrated law programme is expected to provide students in the islands with greater access to professional legal education without having to relocate to mainland institutions. Education observers note that the availability of local legal education opportunities could encourage more students to pursue careers in advocacy, legal consultancy, judicial services and related fields.
The move also aligns with broader efforts to expand higher education offerings in the Union Territory and create specialized academic pathways for students seeking professional qualifications.
With admissions opening this week, students completing their Class XII examinations and considering law as a career option are expected to closely monitor the application process and await further updates regarding regulatory approval.
The college administration has advised applicants to complete the admission process well before the closing date to avoid last-minute difficulties and ensure that all required documents are uploaded successfully.
