A&N Electricity Department Launches Online System to Digitise Government Store Inventory

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 31:  The Electricity Department of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration has introduced an online store inventory management system to bring government stores and assets under a centralised digital platform, with the system designed to improve how materials are recorded, monitored and managed.

The portal, available at electricityims.andamannicobar.gov.in, allows the department to maintain store inventory records online and track the receipt, issue and dispatch of materials. The system aims to make these processes more systematic while strengthening transparency and accountability in the management of government stores.

SOVTECH developed the application specifically for the Electricity Department. Its introduction marks a digitisation initiative focused on store inventory management and provides the department with a single platform through which inventory information can be accessed and managed.

The system also allows officials to monitor stock levels more effectively. By providing updated information on available materials, it is intended to support planning and procurement decisions and help ensure that essential materials remain available when required.

Under the new system, digital monitoring of inventory is expected to provide a more structured mechanism for managing the movement of materials through government stores. Recording receipts, issues and dispatches through the online platform will also create a centralised record of these transactions.

The Electricity Department said implementation of the Store Inventory Management System (SIMS) will further strengthen accountability and improve operational efficiency.

The digital system forms part of the department’s efforts to manage its store inventories through an online mechanism while supporting the operational requirements associated with electricity services across the Union Territory.

The Administration said the implementation will help take forward developmental activities progressively and support the provision of reliable and continued power supply across all regions.

With the inventory process now supported by a dedicated online application, the department will have a centralised mechanism for managing information related to materials held in its stores. The system brings inventory recording, stock monitoring and material movement into the same digital platform.

The initiative therefore places store management at the centre of the department’s digitisation effort, linking the handling of essential materials with planning, procurement and operational efficiency.
