Andaman Clears 200+ Promotions Across Clerical Cadre in Major Administrative Push

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 29: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has cleared long-pending promotions across its clerical cadre, with 214 employees elevated to higher posts following a series of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings conducted for the 2026 vacancy year.

According to official information, the Personnel Department convened four DPC meetings to fill vacancies within the Amalgamated Clerical Cadre, resulting in promotions across multiple levels of the administrative hierarchy.

A key DPC meeting for promotions to the posts of Assistant Secretary and Assistant Director (Administration) was held on April 2 under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Chandra Bhushan Kumar. Based on its recommendations, five Office Superintendents have been promoted to these positions.

Subsequent DPC meetings held on April 27 addressed promotions to the posts of Office Superintendent and Head Clerk/Assistant-in-Charge (AIC). Following these meetings, 22 Head Clerks/AICs have been promoted to Office Superintendent, while 31 Higher Grade Clerks have been elevated to the post of Head Clerk/AIC. The administration issued the necessary promotion orders on the same day.

Earlier in the year, a separate DPC meeting conducted on January 30 finalised promotions to the post of Higher Grade Clerk. Acting on its recommendations, 156 Lower Grade Clerks have been promoted to Higher Grade Clerk, marking the largest set of advancements within the cadre.

Officials said the coordinated effort to hold multiple DPC meetings and implement their recommendations reflects a structured approach to addressing vacancies and streamlining administrative functioning.

The promotions are expected to provide both financial gains and improved career prospects for the employees concerned, while also strengthening the administrative framework through timely elevation of personnel.

With these developments, the administration has moved to ensure that eligible staff receive due advancement, aligning personnel management with operational requirements across departments.
