Selection Trials for All India Civil Services Badminton Tournament to Begin in Andaman

Date:

The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has announced selection trials for the All India Civil Services (AICS) Badminton Tournament, scheduled to be held from February 15 to 21, 2026, at Dayanand Bandodkar Krida Sankool, Peddem, Mapusa, Goa. The trials are being conducted in collaboration with the Central Civil Services Cultural and Sports Board (CCSCSB), Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India, and the Government of Goa.

The trials for male players, including veterans aged 40 and above and 50 and above, will be held on February 3, 2026, from 9 a.m. onwards at the Multipurpose Hall, Netaji Sports Complex. The selection trial for female players, including veteran categories, will take place the following day, February 4, 2026, at the same venue and time.

Eligibility for participation in the tournament is limited to civilian employees of the Central Government who are paid from the Consolidated Fund of India and contribute to the General Provident Fund or the New Pension Scheme. Civilian personnel serving in the Armed Forces Headquarters, civilian employees working under Police organizations or Inspector General of Police Headquarters, regular State Government employees (excluding semi-government bodies or public undertakings), and sports officers or instructors in educational or physical training institutions are also eligible. Teams representing the Regional Sports Boards may include central government employees under their jurisdiction.

Officials have directed all candidates participating in the selection trials to carry valid identity cards and No Objection Certificates from their respective departments. Candidates must also be in proper kit or uniform and bring their own sports equipment. The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs will not provide travel, accommodation, or daily allowance for the trials.

Selected players from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will have their travel and related expenses covered by the concerned department for participation in the main AICS Badminton Tournament in Goa. The trials are intended to ensure that the most skilled and eligible civil service employees from the islands are chosen to represent the region in both men’s and women’s categories.

This year’s tournament marks one of the key national-level sporting events organized under the aegis of the CCSCSB and aims to encourage active participation and talent recognition among central and state government employees. Officials have emphasized adherence to eligibility criteria and proper documentation to ensure a smooth and transparent selection process.

With the selection trials approaching, participants are urged to complete formalities in advance and prepare adequately, as the Andaman and Nicobar representatives will compete with civil servants from across the country at the All India level.
