Adani Cement, in collaboration with Group associate PSP Infra, has achieved a world record by completing the largest religious temple raft foundation at Umiya Dham near Ahmedabad. The foundation will support the upcoming 504-feet-tall Jagat Janani Maa Umiya Temple, envisioned as the spiritual centerpiece of a vast social and cultural campus in Jaspur.
The massive raft foundation, measuring 450 feet by 400 feet by 8 feet, was cast over an uninterrupted 54-hour operation using 24,100 cubic metres of ‘ECOMaxX M45’ grade low-carbon concrete. This proprietary sustainable concrete mix, developed by Adani Cement, set new benchmarks for scale, quality, and green construction.
Valued at approximately ₹2,000 crore, the 60-acre Umiya Dham project is designed to feature 1,551 Dharma Stambhs. According to Vinod Bahety, CEO of the Cement Business at Adani Group, the feat reflects the Group’s philosophy of blending devotion with cutting-edge infrastructure. “The successful raft casting at Umiya Dham is a testament to how faith drives innovation, and innovation uplifts communities,” he said.
The operation involved 26 strategically placed Ready-Mix Concrete plants, over 285 transit mixers, 3,600 tonnes of high-performance cement, and more than 600 skilled workers and technical experts working in shifts over three days. Continuous pouring was maintained to avoid cold joints, while optimal temperature control ensured mix consistency.
Use of the ECOMaxX mix reduced the project’s carbon footprint by 60 per cent through its 66 per cent Supplementary Cementitious Material content. Its proprietary Coolcrete formulation kept placement temperatures below 28°C, reducing thermal stress. Thermocouples embedded in the structure continue to monitor temperature and durability in real time.
Calling it a proud moment for India’s cultural and engineering heritage, R.P. Patel, President of the Vishv Umiya Foundation, said Adani Cement’s proven expertise in mega-project execution made it the natural choice for the temple.
Adani Cement, which has previously contributed to landmark projects like the World One Tower and the Chenab Railway Bridge in Jammu and Kashmir, has now extended its expertise to spiritual infrastructure through the Umiya Dham Temple, setting a new global benchmark in engineering and sustainability.
