Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) April 9: Outpatient Department registrations at G B Pant Hospital will now be conducted exclusively through the Ayushman Bharat Health Account or Health ID, as part of the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The move aims to streamline patient registration, improve identification accuracy, and enable secure digital sharing of medical records across healthcare facilities. Authorities stated that the system will help reduce waiting time and enhance overall efficiency in outpatient services.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, launched by the Government of India in 2021, seeks to build an integrated digital health ecosystem by connecting patients, healthcare providers, and institutions through standardized and secure data exchange. Under the mission, the Ayushman Bharat Health Account provides individuals with a unique digital identity that allows access to personal health records and facilitates sharing of data based on patient consent.

With the rollout in the Union Territory, patients visiting G B Pant Hospital have been asked to carry their Ayushman Bharat Health Account or the mobile number linked to it. Alternatively, they may use an Aadhaar-linked mobile number for registration at the Outpatient Department.
To further improve access to services, the Scan and Share feature has been introduced at G B Pant Hospital, R P Hospital in Mayabunder, and B J R Hospital in Car Nicobar. This facility enables patients to scan a quick response code to generate an Outpatient Department token, reducing waiting time and allowing quicker access to consultations.
Support staff have been deployed at registration counters in these hospitals to assist patients with the Scan and Share process and with the creation of Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts where required. Authorities indicated that these measures are intended to ensure a smooth transition to the digital system.
A dedicated desk for creating Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts has also been set up at the Outpatient Department of G B Pant Hospital. The facility will operate from Monday to Friday between 3 pm and 4:30 pm, with staff assigned to guide patients through the process.
Patients can also create their Ayushman Bharat Health Account independently by visiting the official portal or by approaching the nearest Common Services Centre.
Officials have called for cooperation from patients and attendants to support the implementation of the digital health initiative, stating that public participation will be essential to ensure its effective functioning.
