Leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Saturday expressed gratitude to the people of Bihar for delivering a resounding mandate in the Assembly elections, calling the results a clear affirmation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s development-focused governance.
The NDA comfortably crossed the majority threshold of 122 seats, securing a decisive victory and tightening its grip over the state. The coalition, led by Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), achieved a dominant performance with significant support from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), taking its tally to 202 seats. Meanwhile, the Opposition Mahagathbandhan, comprising the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Left parties, suffered a major electoral setback.
Minister Ashok Chaudhary credited the victory to public trust in the combined leadership of Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi, along with the alliance’s five coalition partners. Thanking voters, he said the mandate reflected a preference for peace, stability, and continued development under the current dispensation.
JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha echoed similar sentiments, noting that the NDA camp was confident from the beginning of the campaign. He said that while the alliance did not predict the exact seat count, its leaders were certain of a substantial win. According to him, two decades of Nitish Kumar’s governance shaped Bihar’s progress, contributing significantly to the landslide results. Jha added that increased support from the Centre in the last two years strengthened the government’s position, reinforcing the belief in a “double-engine” model for the state’s development.
LJP (Ram Vilas) MP Shambhavi Chaudhary described the outcome as a “huge victory,” asserting that the electorate voted for development-oriented leadership. She said the people of Bihar had rejected “jungle raj” and “goonda raj,” choosing instead a stable and strong NDA government that, in their view, ensures the state’s present and future.
JD(U) State President Umesh Kushwaha said the alliance had anticipated a major win, attributing the success to coordinated efforts across party ranks. He noted that voters appreciated the work and achievements of Nitish Kumar, reaffirming their trust in his leadership.
MLA-elect Shyam Rajak stated that the mandate belonged entirely to the people, who placed their confidence in the NDA based on its performance and chose Nitish Kumar to lead the state once again. He extended gratitude to the voters for their overwhelming support.
LJP(R) candidate from Mahua, Sanjay Kumar Singh, who contested against Jan Shakti Janata Dal founder Tej Pratap Yadav, said the sweeping results demonstrated that people voted for development. He emphasised that the mandate reflected public faith in the leadership of Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar and endorsed their policy direction and vision for Bihar.
With the NDA’s emphatic victory, leaders across the alliance underscored that the results represent a strong endorsement of their governance model and future development agenda for the state.
