Sri Vijaya Puram, October 19: The Andaman and Nicobar Police contingent participating in the National Motorcycle Rally–2026 has taken its anti-drug awareness campaign to educational institutions and local communities in Telangana and Maharashtra, urging young people to resist peer pressure and understand the physical, psychological and social consequences of substance abuse.
The rally began at Marina Beach in Chennai on October 14 as part of a nationwide initiative linked to the observance of National Unity Day in Gujarat on October 31. It seeks to promote national unity, social responsibility and awareness of drug abuse.
The contingent reached Hyderabad on October 16 and interacted with students at the University of Hyderabad and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad the following day. The discussions focused on making informed decisions, resisting peer influence and recognising the potential harm associated with drug use.

After the Hyderabad engagements, the team proceeded towards Humnabad in Karnataka. On October 18, it continued its outreach at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vidyalaya in Maharashtra, interacting with students and local residents.
The sessions encouraged students to pursue their educational and personal goals, adopt healthy lifestyles and take responsibility for their choices. By engaging directly with young people and community members, the campaign aims to extend its message beyond the rally route and encourage wider participation in efforts to prevent drug abuse.
The programme places particular emphasis on students, who were urged to make informed choices and contribute to efforts to build a society free from substance abuse. The contingent’s interactions also sought to raise awareness of the broader social consequences of drug use.
The rally is linked to the forthcoming National Unity Day observance on October 31 in Gujarat. The initiative combines the themes of national solidarity and public responsibility with an anti-drug awareness campaign conducted during the journey.
The Andaman and Nicobar Police has appealed to students, parents, educational institutions and members of the public to work together to prevent drug abuse and protect young people from its harmful effects.
The campaign’s central message is to reject drugs and promote a healthy life, with the broader objective of encouraging collective responsibility in addressing substance abuse.
