Andaman Administration Invites Public Feedback on Draft Inland Vessel Rules

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, October 16: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has invited public and stakeholder feedback on its draft Model Inland Vessel Rules, 2026, giving inland vessel owners, operators and other concerned parties 30 days from the date of upload to propose changes before the regulations are finalised.

The draft rules are available on the Administration’s official portal at https://andamannicobar.gov.in/Ann_all. The consultation allows interested parties to examine the proposed provisions and identify changes they consider necessary.

The Administration has asked respondents to specify the relevant rule or provision in their submissions and clearly describe the proposed modifications, wherever applicable. This format is intended to help authorities identify the provisions under consideration and assess the suggestions received.

Stakeholders can submit their comments and recommendations by email to the Harbour Master, Port Management Board, at hm.pmb@nic.in. Alternatively, they can send written submissions by post to the Harbour Master, Port Management Board, Sri Vijaya Puram.

The 30-day period begins from the date the draft rules were uploaded to the official portal. The notice does not specify a calendar deadline, so prospective respondents will need to refer to the upload date to determine the closing date for submissions.

Inland vessel owners and operators, along with members of the public and other concerned stakeholders, have been asked to review the draft before submitting their views. The consultation provides an opportunity to flag specific provisions and recommend revisions while the rules remain under consideration.

The Administration has stated that it will examine all comments and suggestions received within the stipulated period before finalising the rules. Submissions should therefore focus on identifiable provisions and include clear recommendations wherever changes are proposed.

The draft notification and the prescribed submission channels are available through the Andaman and Nicobar Administration’s portal and the Harbour Master’s office, respectively. The final rules will be settled after the authority reviews the feedback received during the consultation period.
