Car Nicobar, October 15: GSSS Malacca secured first place in both the role play and folk dance competitions at a district-level event in Car Nicobar, qualifying to represent Nicobar district at the state-level competitions scheduled in Sri Vijaya Puram on October 24.
Six teams representing all three zones participated in the event, presenting performances that reflected their creativity, cultural heritage and understanding of population education-related themes.
The competition took place at the Conference Hall of the District Library in Car Nicobar, bringing together participants from across the district to demonstrate their skills through role play and folk dance.

GSSS Malacca emerged at the top in both categories, securing the district’s representation at the next level. The school’s qualification marks the outcome of the district-level contest, which assessed participants’ performances in the two disciplines.
A three-member jury evaluated the competition. The panel comprised Derick Jacob, First Headman of Kinyuka Village and a member of the Tribal Council; Linda Mona, Junior Engineer in the Construction Division of the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD); and Nirmal, a music faculty member.
The programme began with a welcome address by Jacob, Vice Principal and Education Officer-in-Charge. The event centred on role play and folk dance as platforms for participants to express cultural traditions and engage with population education themes.
With the district-level results decided, GSSS Malacca will now represent Nicobar district at the state-level competitions in Sri Vijaya Puram on October 24.
