Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 28: Wandoor Ward No. 4 has received a newly constructed cement concrete road linking the Main Road with the residential area around the houses of Rakesh Sil, Sudeb Sil and Nibash Sil, strengthening local road connectivity in the rural panchayat area.
P. Ummer, Adhyaksh of the Zilla Parishad South Andaman (ZPSA), inaugurated the road. The newly built stretch runs from the Main Road to the residence of Rakesh Sil via the residences of Sudeb Sil and Nibash Sil.
Rajanish Kumar Singh, IAS, Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad South Andaman, presided over the inauguration function. Prakash Adhikari, Zilla Parishad Member from Guptapara; S.K. Gupta, Superintending Engineer (PRI); Bharat Sharma, PSM; and Uttam Kumar Roy, Up-Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Wandoor, attended the programme along with other Zilla Parishad and PRI members, officials from the Engineering Wing and local residents.
Addressing the gathering, Ummer said improving road connectivity and basic infrastructure in rural areas remains a priority for the Zilla Parishad. He said village roads play a direct role in residents’ daily movement and access to essential services, educational institutions, healthcare facilities and markets.
He said the Zilla Parishad would continue to take up development works according to the needs and priorities identified by local communities. The approach, he said, would include addressing other essential infrastructure requirements in the area in a phased manner.
Ummer also acknowledged the cooperation of PRI representatives and residents in completing the road project.
The newly constructed road is expected to provide the locality with improved connectivity within the panchayat area. Residents present at the programme expressed gratitude to the Zilla Parishad and PRI representatives for providing the road link they had sought for the locality.
