Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 22: Residents of Ward No. 24 in Bathubasti and surrounding areas have been facing difficulties securing LPG cylinders for the past three months, prompting Councillor Kavitha Udhayakumar to seek urgent intervention from the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
In a representation addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) and the Assistant Secretary (AR Wing), Kavitha Udhayakumar, Councillor of Ward No. 24 and former Chairperson of the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC), raised concerns over the irregular supply and non-availability of LPG cylinders through M/s Reem Indane Gas Agency.
According to the representation, the disruption has affected residents who depend on the agency for cooking gas. Kavitha Udhayakumar stated that the required LPG supply was understood to be not reaching the distributor regularly from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOC), which she said had resulted in continuing disruption of normal cylinder distribution.
The councillor said the situation had created difficulties for families seeking refill cylinders on time and urged the administration to intervene with the concerned authorities.
Kavitha Udhayakumar requested that IOC and the distributor be directed to ensure adequate and regular LPG allocation and restore uninterrupted cylinder supply to residents of Ward No. 24.
The representation also sought a clearly defined schedule and timing for refill cylinder distribution. Kavitha Udhayakumar asked that the schedule be widely publicised through print media and All India Radio so residents can receive advance information and collect their cylinders accordingly.
She further requested that the distribution schedule be communicated to her.
The representation was submitted to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, the Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) and the Assistant Secretary (AR Wing).
Kavitha Udhayakumar called for immediate necessary action to address the supply issue and sought a resolution to the problem faced by consumers in Ward No. 24.
