Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 22: The Central TB Division under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has launched the TB Mukt Bharat App to strengthen support for tuberculosis patients, improve access to reliable information and widen community participation in the country’s TB elimination efforts.
Introduced under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), the digital platform brings several TB-related services and information together in a user-friendly application. It is designed to assist patients through different stages of their treatment by providing treatment guidance, support for adherence and follow-up assistance.
The application also connects with existing systems, including Nikshay, to facilitate the delivery of patient-centric services. This integration is intended to provide users with easier access to support during their treatment journey.
Beyond patient assistance, the app provides information on TB symptoms, prevention and treatment. The initiative seeks to make accurate information more accessible to the public, while helping address misinformation, reduce stigma and encourage people to seek early diagnosis.
A major component of the platform is its link to the Nikshay Mitra initiative, which allows members of the public, institutions, corporates and organisations to register through the app and support people undergoing TB treatment.
Nikshay Mitras can extend nutritional, social or financial assistance to TB patients during their treatment period. The feature opens a channel for individuals and organisations to participate directly in supporting patients beyond clinical care.
The application also includes “Khushi – Aap Ke e-Sangini”, an interactive chatbot intended to provide immediate information on TB. Users can seek answers to questions concerning symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and government support services through the chatbot.
The chatbot functions as a virtual information resource for both patients and members of the public, helping users address queries related to TB in an accessible manner.
The Central TB Division has urged the public to download and use the TB Mukt Bharat App to access information and services and participate in TB elimination efforts by registering as Nikshay Mitras.
The initiative places community participation alongside patient support and public awareness as part of the broader effort to achieve a TB Mukt Bharat.
