Special Medical Camps for PwDs Begin Across A&N Islands

Date:

The Directorate of Social Welfare, in coordination with the Directorate of Health and Composite Regional Centre (CRC), has launched a series of dedicated medical camps aimed at issuing Unique Disability ID (UDID) Cards and Disability Certificates across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Scheduled between May 15 and June 16, the camps are designed to provide on-the-spot health assessments and certification services to eligible Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). The initiative is part of a wider administrative push to ensure that eligible residents have access to welfare schemes and entitlements that require valid disability documentation.

In South Andaman, camps will be held at CRC Brookshabad, GB Pant Hospital, District Hospital Garacharma, and several primary and community health centres. Similar camps will follow in North & Middle Andaman (Rangat, Billiground, Mayabunder, Diglipur) and the Nicobar District (Car Nicobar and Campbell Bay).

PwDs have been urged to attend their respective district camps on scheduled dates to avail the free evaluation and certification services. The move is expected to improve the ease of access to healthcare and social services for the islands’ disabled population.
