Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 11: Admiral D.K. Joshi’s nearly nine-year tenure as Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is nearing its conclusion, with the Administration marking the transition on September 10 through a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the Andaman & Nicobar Police.
The ceremony brought senior officials of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, the Andaman & Nicobar Police and staff of Lok Niwas together as Admiral Joshi approaches the end of a tenure that began on October 8, 2017, when he took charge as the 14th Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory.
The Guard of Honour marked a formal farewell to the Lieutenant Governor, with officials expressing gratitude for his leadership during his tenure. The gathering also conveyed wishes for his good health, happiness and a fulfilling journey ahead.
According to the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Admiral Joshi’s tenure has seen progress across infrastructure, connectivity, tourism, hospitality and the broader development of the New Andaman Islands.
The September 10 ceremony brought together the administrative and police leadership at Lok Niwas as the Union Territory prepares for the conclusion of Admiral Joshi’s nearly nine-year tenure.
Admiral D.K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd), assumed charge as Lieutenant Governor on October 8, 2017. His departure marks the closing phase of a tenure during which the Administration has highlighted development across key sectors affecting the islands, including physical infrastructure, connectivity and tourism.
