Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 24: A 42-year-old man was arrested after 485 grams of suspected methamphetamine was recovered from a house in Garacharma-II near Ram Mandir, according to information received from sources. The seizure is being investigated as a suspected case of illegal possession of narcotic drugs intended for sale in the local market.

Sources said information was received on August 23 alleging that Arul Dass, 42, a resident of Garacharma-II near Ram Mandir and employed as a DRL at INHS Dhanvantri, was in possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of selling it locally.

Acting on the information, an Anti-Narcotics Police team reached the residence and conducted a search in the presence of independent witnesses, according to the sources.

During the search, a polythene packet containing a white crystalline substance was reportedly recovered from a wooden almirah inside the house.

The total quantity of the substance seized was stated to be 485 grams.

Following the recovery, Arul Dass was arrested in connection with the case. Sources said the grounds of arrest were communicated to his wife, who was present at the residence at the time of the search.
