Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 22: Students at ZPVKV Ferrargunj and ZPVKV Shore Point will have access to newly established computer laboratories after the Zilla Parishad South Andaman provided computers and supporting infrastructure at the two schools, in a move aimed at expanding technology-enabled education in rural areas.
The laboratories were inaugurated by P. Ummer, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad South Andaman, in the presence of Rajanish Kumar Singh, IAS, Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, and other officials. The initiative seeks to provide students with computer skills and greater access to digital resources for their education.
The inauguration programmes were attended by P. A. Sharfuddin, Chairman of the Works and Development Committee; Prakash Adhikari, Chairman of the Education and Social Justice Committee; Abdul Bashir, ZPM, Ferrargunj; and Dhana Rekha, ZPM, Shore Point Constituency. Teachers, students, parents and local representatives also participated.
The Zilla Parishad has supplied the computers and necessary infrastructure and facilities at both schools. The initiative particularly focuses on students from rural and remote areas, with the stated objective of improving their access to modern learning tools and helping them develop essential computer skills.
Addressing the gatherings, Ummer said technology had become an essential component of quality education and stressed that rural students should have access to opportunities available elsewhere. He described the laboratories as a step towards addressing the digital divide and expanding educational opportunities.
Adhikari said the Zilla Parishad would continue to prioritise educational infrastructure and seek to provide modern facilities to schools under its jurisdiction wherever feasible. He urged students to use the laboratories for learning and skill development while using technology responsibly.
Singh encouraged teachers to incorporate technology into classroom teaching and urged students to use digital resources for academic purposes. He also stressed proper maintenance of the facilities.
The programmes began with welcome addresses by the respective heads of schools and welcome songs by students. School authorities later thanked the Zilla Parishad, officials and elected representatives for their support.
The laboratories are intended to support digital learning, computer literacy, access to online educational resources and technology skills among students.
