Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 14: A search operation conducted in North and Middle Andaman district led to the seizure of 40 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from a resident of Mayabunder, with police registering a case under the relevant provisions of law.
According to police, the operation was carried out on August 13 after officers received specific information regarding the alleged possession of illicit liquor. Acting on the input, a team from Police Station Mayabunder conducted a search at Fisheries Colony in Mayabunder.
During the operation, police recovered and seized 40 bottles of IMFL, each containing 180 ml, from the possession of the accused, who is a resident of Mayabunder. The seized liquor was taken into custody as part of the investigation.

Following the recovery, an FIR was registered against the accused under the applicable legal provisions. Police said further legal proceedings are being carried out in accordance with the law.
The search operation was conducted under the supervision of Inspector R.K. Mazumdar, Station House Officer of Police Station Mayabunder.
The seizure forms part of ongoing enforcement against the illegal possession and movement of liquor in the district. Cases involving the recovery of liquor are investigated under the relevant statutory provisions, and further action is determined through the legal process.
Police have appealed to residents to report information related to illegal activities to the nearest police station or through the emergency helpline numbers 100 and 112. They stated that the identities of informants will be kept confidential and that suitable rewards will be provided for actionable information.
The investigation in the case is continuing.
