Ambulance Helpline in Andaman Changes to 112, 102 Discontinued Across Government Hospitals

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 9: People seeking ambulance services across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will now have to dial 112 instead of the long-standing emergency number 102, following a change implemented for all government health institutions in the Union Territory.

The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has replaced the existing toll-free Emergency/Ambulance telephone number 102 with 112 for accessing ambulance services. The revised emergency number will now be used across the public healthcare network in the Islands.

According to the Administration, the toll-free number 112 will serve all government health institutions, including G.B. Pant Hospital, which functions as the referral hospital, District Hospitals, Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and other government healthcare facilities across the Union Territory.

The change comes into immediate effect, making 112 the designated emergency and ambulance helpline for medical assistance throughout the Islands. Members of the public requiring ambulance services or facing a medical emergency have been asked to dial 112 instead of the earlier emergency number.

The Administration has appealed to residents to take note of the revised emergency contact number and use 112 whenever ambulance services or urgent medical assistance are required at any government health institution in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
