Sri Vijaya Puram, June 30: The South Andaman District Administration has intensified its anti-encroachment campaign, clearing nine illegal encroachments and restoring approximately 2,500 square metres of Government Revenue land during a major eviction drive at Garacharma as part of its ongoing effort to protect public property and prevent unauthorized occupation.
The eviction operation was carried out by Revenue authorities at Garacharma village along Attam Pahar Junction, where officials removed five unauthorized structures and four fenced enclosures that had been erected on Government Revenue land. Following the operation, the encroached land measuring around 2,500 square metres was restored to its original condition by the District Revenue authorities.
The action forms part of the District Administration’s sustained anti-encroachment campaign aimed at safeguarding Government land, preserving public spaces and ensuring that public assets remain available for lawful use and community welfare.
According to the Administration, Revenue officials have been conducting regular surveillance across the district to detect unauthorized occupation of Government land and initiate timely enforcement measures wherever encroachments are identified. The ongoing campaign is intended to prevent illegal occupation while protecting Government property from further unauthorized use.
The Administration stated that the latest operation reflects its continued commitment to enforcing land laws and reclaiming Government Revenue land from unauthorized occupants. Officials have indicated that similar enforcement measures will continue across South Andaman in the coming days as part of the district-wide anti-encroachment initiative.
Appealing for public cooperation, the District Administration has urged citizens not to encroach upon Government land and to report any instances of illegal occupation or unauthorized construction. It emphasized that public participation is essential for protecting Government assets and supporting planned and orderly development across the district.
