DSS Reschedules Inter-Island Ship Services Due to Bad Weather; Passengers Urged to Check Updates

Date:

In light of deteriorating weather conditions across the region, the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) has postponed two scheduled inter-island sailings, citing the safety of passengers and vessels as its primary concern. The impacted routes include sailings between Sri Vijaya Puram and Little Andaman, and Sri Vijaya Puram and Campbell Bay via Nancowry.

According to an official notification from DSS, the sailing of MV Campbell Bay to Little Andaman, initially planned for July 22 (Tuesday) at 0800 Hrs from Haddo Wharf, along with its return journey the same day at 2100 Hrs from Little Andaman, has been deferred. The vessel will now sail on July 24 (Thursday), maintaining the same departure and return timings.

Similarly, the sailing of MV Nalanda to Campbell Bay via Nancowry, originally scheduled for July 22 at 0900 Hrs, has been rescheduled to July 24. The return leg from Campbell Bay, earlier slated for July 24 at 0800 Hrs, will now take place on July 26 (Saturday) at 0800 Hrs.

DSS has also cautioned that weather-related disruptions may affect other services, including Foreshore Sector and Harbour/Vehicle ferry operations in Sri Vijaya Puram and various outstations. These services could be temporarily suspended or delayed at short notice, depending on the evolving weather patterns.

In view of these developments, the administration has urged passengers, tourists, and residents to make necessary adjustments to their travel plans and remain updated through official channels. The public can check the latest travel status and rescheduling information by contacting the DSS Information Counter at Phoenix Bay on 03192-245555 / 232714, or by calling the toll-free helpline at 18003452714.

The DSS reiterated that all changes have been made in the interest of public safety and asked for public cooperation during this period of adverse weather. Travelers are encouraged to stay informed and exercise caution.
