Zilla Parishad Chief Reviews Key Projects in Swaraj Dweep

Zilla Parishad South Andaman Adhyaksh Prakash Adhikari, accompanied by the Executive Engineer and other officials, visited Swaraj Dweep on Saturday to review ongoing developmental works and assess the progress of projects implemented under the Zilla Parishad sector.

During the visit, Adhikari inspected a range of infrastructure projects, including road construction and community facilities aimed at improving connectivity and quality of life for residents. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high construction standards and ensuring the timely completion of all works to maximize public benefit.

The Zilla Parishad team held interactions with local Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, departmental representatives, and residents at the Gram Panchayat office in Govindnagar. The discussions focused on several pressing civic issues, including road improvements, the widening of the road near the jetty to ease congestion, and the need for waiting sheds in front of the Primary Health Centre and the Government School at Govindnagar.

Another key point raised during the meeting was the revival of the non-functional water project under the Zilla Parishad, which has been a long-standing concern for the island’s residents. Adhikari assured the participants that all identified issues would be examined in coordination with the concerned departments of the Administration for timely resolution.

The visit highlighted the Zilla Parishad’s continued commitment to strengthening local governance and promoting equitable development across the islands. Adhikari reiterated that consistent monitoring, community participation, and inter-departmental coordination are essential to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach every section of society.

Through such field visits, the Zilla Parishad aims to bridge administrative gaps and foster transparency in the execution of public works, reaffirming its focus on inclusive growth and responsive governance in the South Andaman region.
