Dr B R Ambedkar Institute Launches Welding Skill Programme, Interview on March 25

Date:

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology has announced a skill development initiative focused on improving employability among youth, alongside a walk-in interview scheduled for March 25 to recruit an instructor for a specialised welding training programme.

The initiative is being undertaken under the Skill Development Programme with the objective of equipping young people in the islands with industry-relevant technical skills. The institute stated that it will soon commence a training course in Manual Arc Welding, also known as Shielded Metal Arc Welding, aimed at providing hands-on practical exposure.

Officials said the programme is designed to enhance job readiness among participants by building technical competence aligned with industrial requirements. The training is also expected to create avenues for self-employment and facilitate placements within the industrial sector.

As part of the rollout, the institute has proposed to engage an Instructor in Manual Metal Arc Welding/Shielded Metal Arc Welding under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0 framework. The recruitment process will be conducted through a walk-in interview.

Eligible candidates have been invited to appear for the interview on March 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the institute premises. Applicants have been instructed to carry all relevant original documents and testimonials for verification at the time of the interview.

The institute indicated that the training programme forms part of broader efforts to align skill development initiatives with industry demands and improve workforce readiness among local youth. By focusing on practical training modules, the programme seeks to bridge the gap between technical education and employment opportunities.

Manual Arc Welding is widely used across industrial sectors, and the introduction of structured training in this field is expected to provide participants with marketable skills. Officials noted that the course will emphasise practical learning to ensure that trainees gain direct exposure to real-world applications.

The walk-in interview is part of the preparatory phase to ensure that qualified instructors are in place before the commencement of the training programme. The engagement under PMKVY 4.0 aligns the initiative with national-level skill development objectives.

The institute has called upon interested and eligible candidates to participate in the selection process within the stipulated time, as it moves forward with the implementation of the programme.
