Water Supply Interrupted in Several Areas Following Pipeline Damage at Sippighat

Continuous rainfall on May 24 and 25 caused a landslide at Sippighat, damaging two major gravity pipelines connected to Dhanikhari Dam. These lines supply raw water to the Garacharma Treatment Plant and the Old Plant at Lamba Line.

Due to the disruption, both pipelines were shut down, and restoration work began immediately. Officials expect repairs to be completed by the evening of May 26.

As a result, the water supply was affected in areas linked to the Lamba Line and the Garacharma Water Treatment Plants, specifically Police Line, All India Radio, and Rachi Basti. Supply will also remain partially affected on May 27.

The municipal authorities have been informed and have taken steps to minimise the public’s inconvenience. Tanker water is being supplied from Jawahar Sarovar Treatment Plant to the affected areas during this period.

Residents have been advised to conserve and use water judiciously until the regular supply resumes.
