Voter List Revision Begins; Citizens Urged to Enroll Online

The Election Commission of India has initiated a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, introducing an online facility to simplify the process for voters. The Chief Electoral Officer has encouraged citizens to make use of the new digital option through the ECI portal at https://voters.eci.gov.in to update or verify their electoral details.

The digital facility, introduced as part of the Election Commission’s broader effort to make electoral processes more accessible, allows electors to submit their Enumeration Form entirely online. This move is expected to ease the enrollment process for voters, particularly those who face difficulty accessing polling offices.

According to the detailed steps shared by the Election Office, citizens can visit the ECI portal and click on “Fill Enumeration Form.” After selecting the respective Union Territory and entering their Voter ID number, the system displays prefilled details for verification. Applicants can then update their contact information, confirm their relationship to previously enrolled family members, and make necessary corrections before uploading a passport-size photograph and submitting the form.

The process includes a one-time password (OTP) verification to ensure security and prevent duplicate submissions. Voters have also been advised that their name on the Aadhaar card must exactly match the name on the EPIC (Voter ID). If any discrepancy exists, the office advises approaching the Booth Level Officer (BLO) assigned to the area, whose name and contact number are printed on the enumeration form, for offline submission.

In addition to the online facility, the Election Commission continues to support offline enumeration. Booth Level Officers are visiting households during the Enumeration Phase to collect forms and assist voters who prefer or require in-person submission. This dual mode aims to ensure that no eligible voter is left out due to digital access constraints.

The Election Office emphasized that the accuracy of electoral data is vital for transparent and fair elections. Proper enumeration helps ensure that all eligible citizens, including first-time voters, are registered ahead of upcoming electoral events. Officials have also urged residents to check the correctness of their existing details such as constituency, polling station, and part serial number to prevent duplication or errors during elections.

The new initiative also aligns with the Election Commission’s broader goal of integrating technology into the electoral process. By promoting digital self-service for voters, the system seeks to minimize manual errors and reduce the administrative load on election staff.

The Chief Electoral Officer has appealed to all eligible citizens of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to actively participate in this revision process. Residents are encouraged to verify their details online or reach out to their local BLOs during the enumeration visits.

Citizens can access the ECI portal anytime to complete the process and verify their voter enrollment status. The office has reiterated that prompt participation will ensure accurate voter rolls and smoother elections.

Through this online facility, the Election Commission continues to bridge administrative efficiency with civic participation, aiming for an updated, transparent, and inclusive electoral register that reflects the democratic pulse of the islands.
