Voter Enumeration Drive, Road Diversion, and Pool Maintenance Announced

The Andaman & Nicobar Administration has issued a series of public notices spanning electoral, infrastructure, and community services. These include the commencement of a voter enumeration exercise across the Islands, a temporary road diversion in Port Blair due to ongoing construction, and the closure of the Netaji Stadium swimming pool for repair and maintenance work. The updates, issued by respective departments, underline the administration’s focus on improving civic efficiency, public participation, and infrastructure upkeep.

The Chief Electoral Officer of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands announced that the voter enumeration phase, running from November 4 to December 4, 2025, has commenced across all constituencies. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are visiting homes to distribute pre-printed enumeration forms in duplicate, ensuring that all registered voters’ details are verified and updated for inclusion in the draft electoral roll to be published on December 9, 2025.

Each form includes essential voter information such as name, EPIC number, address, constituency, and photograph. Electors are required to verify these details and fill in missing data such as date of birth, Aadhaar number (optional), mobile number, and parental information. The process also allows voters to attach updated photographs.

To ensure accuracy and linkage with past records, the administration has provided a mechanism for mapping voters with entries from the last Special Intensive Revision (SIR) held in 2002. Voters can check whether their names, or those of their parents or grandparents, appeared in the earlier rolls by visiting the Chief Electoral Officer’s official website (https://www.ceoandaman.nic.in) and using the provided links for tehsil-wise and part-wise search. Those who have migrated from other states can use the Election Commission of India’s national portal (https://www.voters.eci.gov.in) to locate previous registration details.

The CEO, L. Kumar, has urged all eligible voters to actively participate in the exercise, verify their information, and assist BLOs during home visits. Helpdesks have been set up at offices of the Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, and the voter helpline number 1950 remains open for any assistance regarding the process.

In a separate announcement, the District Magistrate of South Andaman has notified a temporary road closure at School Line Junction leading to Chanakya Tuition Centre. The closure will remain in effect from November 8 to November 22, 2025, to facilitate ongoing road construction work. During this period, vehicular traffic will be diverted through the Ranchi Basthi route near Little Angel Clinic to ensure public safety and smooth progress of construction. Commuters have been advised to follow traffic advisories and cooperate with authorities to minimize inconvenience.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs has informed members and users of the Netaji Stadium Swimming Pool that the facility will remain closed from November 9 onwards for essential repair and maintenance work. The administration will issue a separate notification once the work is completed and the pool is ready to reopen. The temporary closure is part of routine upkeep efforts to maintain safety standards and improve user experience.

Collectively, these measures reflect the administration’s ongoing efforts to maintain efficient governance and civic transparency. The voter enumeration drive seeks to ensure that every eligible citizen’s name appears correctly in the electoral rolls, reinforcing participatory democracy at the grassroots. The road diversion supports infrastructural renewal and modernization of urban transport routes, while the pool maintenance underlines continued investment in public sports infrastructure.

Residents across the Islands have been encouraged to stay informed about official updates, especially regarding civic works and public service announcements. By proactively communicating these developments, the Andaman & Nicobar Administration continues to promote accessibility, accountability, and convenience for citizens in their day-to-day interactions with local governance.
