Police Break Car Window After No Response From Occupants; Video Goes Viral

A viral video circulating across social media in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands shows police personnel breaking the window of a parked car near a seashore road, triggering widespread discussion online. However, officials have clarified that the clip being widely shared does not capture the full context of the incident.

According to police sources, the vehicle had been parked for a prolonged period along the Seashore Road, drawing the attention of a Police Control Room (PCR) patrol team on duty. Officers reportedly noticed that the car had remained stationary for hours with people inside but without any visible activity.

The police personnel approached the vehicle and attempted to communicate with the occupants by knocking on the windows and calling out to them. However, there was no response from inside the locked car despite repeated attempts.

A police official explained the situation, stating, “The vehicle was parked for a long time on Seashore Road. PCR spotted it and tried to open the windows. No one responded for a while. Taking into consideration the chances of dizziness and suffocation inside the closed car, the window was broken.”

The officer further added that once the window was broken and the vehicle was opened, the occupants were found in an intoxicated condition.

“Three were found inside and were all heavily intoxicated. Preventive arrests of all three were made,” the official said.

Following the intervention, the three individuals were taken to the police station for further action. Police confirmed that preventive arrests were carried out and proceedings were initiated as per law.

The video clip, which captures the moment officers break the car window, has since spread rapidly across local social media platforms in Sri Vijaya Puram, leading to speculation and debate among residents. Police authorities have urged people not to interpret the situation based solely on the short viral clip, emphasizing that the action was taken after multiple attempts to get a response from the occupants failed.

Officials maintained that the intervention was a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of the individuals inside the vehicle.
