Member of Parliament Bishnu Pada Ray has urged Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to intervene over the poor condition of the National Highway from Kadamtala to Diglipur in North and Middle Andaman. In a September 20 letter, Ray sought immediate maintenance to keep the highway safe and motorable until permanent works are completed. He also flagged the slow progress of the Baratang Creek Bridge and called for an urgent review with NHIDCL officials and contractors. Ray has sought clear accountability, adequate deployment of manpower and machinery, and completion of pending works, including the bridge, by December 2026.
