Passengers at Veer Savarkar International Airport can now access free high-speed Wi-Fi and a range of upgraded facilities following a nationwide rollout across 57 airports, inaugurated by Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. The initiative is aimed at modernizing airport services and improving travel experiences, with special focus on key tourist destinations such as the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The high-speed Wi-Fi enables seamless connectivity for streaming, video calls, and essential applications. Passengers can connect by selecting the official network “AAI Free Wi-Fi” and completing a quick mobile registration using a one-time password. Early feedback from travelers indicates strong adoption and satisfaction with the service.
This launch was conducted virtually at Veer Savarkar International Airport, with participation from Airports Authority of India staff and other key stakeholders. The program forms part of a larger effort to modernize airport infrastructure, introducing amenities such as UDAN Yatri Cafes, Digi Yatra services, AVSAR outlets, Flybraries, and Kid Zones at airports nationwide.

Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu highlighted that the upgraded services aim to provide a uniform, high-standard passenger experience across airports. The initiative complements previously established facilities at Veer Savarkar Airport, including the AVSAR outlet, Digi Yatra system, and Kids’ Zone, enhancing both comfort and convenience for travelers.
The free Wi-Fi service represents a key step toward integrating digital technology with passenger amenities, allowing travelers to remain connected during their journey. Authorities have emphasized the simplicity and accessibility of the service, which is designed to support the needs of both domestic and international passengers.
Beyond connectivity, the airport upgrades support the broader vision of the Ministry of Civil Aviation to improve infrastructure and services across Indian airports. The initiative reflects an effort to strengthen tourism hubs, facilitate smooth travel, and enhance passenger satisfaction through digital and physical infrastructure improvements.
Veer Savarkar International Airport serves as a vital gateway to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, connecting the region to major mainland cities. The enhancement of facilities ensures that the airport meets modern standards of convenience, technology, and efficiency, benefiting both residents and tourists.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has indicated that these upgrades are part of a continuing program to provide consistent, high-quality passenger services across the country. By combining digital services such as free Wi-Fi with recreational and utility facilities, the initiative seeks to standardize passenger experiences at airports and promote the use of technology in travel management.
The upgraded amenities at Veer Savarkar International Airport demonstrate how the government is prioritizing passenger convenience, connectivity, and modern infrastructure while supporting the growth of tourism and regional development.
