Traffic Diversion Announced For Panguni Uttaram Festival On April 11

Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 10:
In view of the annual Panguni Uttaram festival to be held on April 11, 2025, at the Lord Subramaniaswamy Devasthanam (Murugan Temple) in Sri Vijiyapuram, the District Magistrate of South Andaman has notified temporary traffic restrictions to ensure the smooth flow of vehicular movement and public safety.

As per the official order issued under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the Andaman and Nicobar Administration’s notification dated March 10, 2008, vehicular traffic will be suspended from 7:00 AM on the stretch between Murugan Temple and Siddique Junction, and in the reverse direction, for the duration of the event.

Key Diversions in Effect

  1. No entry towards Murugan Temple will be permitted from RGT Road and APWD Junction from 0700 hrs onwards.
  2. Vehicles travelling towards Aberdeen Bazar from Siddique Junction after 7:00 AM must use the following route:
    • Siddique Junction → Shadipur → Machi Line → RK Mission → Girls School Junction → Aberdeen Bazar.
  3. Vehicles intending to reach Siddique Junction via Murugan Temple after 7:00 AM should take the alternative route:
    • Murugan Temple → RGT Road → Machi Line → Shadipur → Siddique Junction.

These diversions are applicable only during the festival hours on April 11 and have been put in place to facilitate the religious procession and manage crowd movement during the auspicious Panguni Uttaram celebrations.
