Sri Vijaya Puram | The Andaman and Nicobar Police have reached Chennai to assist the Tamil Nadu Police in tracing Niyamat Ali, a 47-year-old resident of Shadipur and son of late Rehmat Ali, who has been missing since July 27. Police sources told The Wave Andaman that while the case is under the jurisdiction of the Chennai Police, two FIRs have been lodged at different police stations in connection with the disappearance. Investigators are examining all possible angles, including personal enmity and business disputes.
According to sources, Ali had travelled to Chennai to purchase building and construction material for his under-construction building and is understood to have spoken to his family shortly before he went missing. According to sources, police is now trying to retrace his movements prior to his disappearance. Sources further said that the police are investigating reports whether Niyamat Ali had a long-running property-related dispute with an individual who is also a local resident.

The police have not arrested anyone or officially named suspects so far, though they are keeping a close watch on individuals in his personal and professional circles. The family has appealed to the public to share any leads that could help locate Ali, describing him as a friendly, jovial person who was actively involved in community work. He is an alumnus of Carmel School and Government Boys School in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Authorities urged anyone with information to come forward to aid the search.
