SVPMC Conducts City-Wide Cleanliness Drives Under Swachhata Hi Seva

Date:

As part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC) carried out a series of cleanliness drives today across various places of worship and water bodies within its jurisdiction. The initiative aimed to maintain hygiene, safeguard public health, and preserve the sanctity of spiritual and communal spaces in the city.

The drives saw active participation from municipal staff, Safai Mitras, and local residents, who worked together to clean surrounding areas, remove waste, and spread awareness about the importance of hygiene and sanitation. Water bodies across multiple wards were also cleaned, with debris and pollutants being cleared to ensure better environmental health and water quality.

Officials from SVPMC highlighted that the initiative was designed not only to improve cleanliness but also to foster a sense of community responsibility. By targeting both religious sites and public water bodies, the council sought to promote the idea that a clean environment is essential for public well-being and the preservation of cultural and spiritual heritage.

The campaign also focused on encouraging residents to actively participate in similar efforts in the future. SVPMC appealed to the public to extend their cooperation, stressing that sustained community engagement is crucial to achieving long-term cleanliness and environmental sustainability. Officials noted that the combined efforts of municipal teams and citizens could lead to a cleaner, greener, and healthier city.

Through the drives, SVPMC aims to cultivate a lasting culture of hygiene and environmental stewardship in Sri Vijaya Puram. Organizers said that involving local communities not only ensures better maintenance of public spaces but also inspires collective action, instilling a sense of pride and ownership among residents.

Municipal authorities added that campaigns like these are integral to broader efforts under the Swachh Bharat initiative, which emphasizes public participation, environmental awareness, and civic responsibility. By aligning city-level actions with national cleanliness objectives, SVPMC seeks to set an example for other municipalities in promoting sustainable practices and community-led sanitation initiatives.

The council reiterated that public cooperation remains a cornerstone of these campaigns. Officials expressed hope that continued participation by citizens will reinforce the message of cleanliness, responsibility, and community spirit, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more vibrant city for all.
