In response to concerns over mental stress and psychological pressure among students appearing for the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) and All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE), 2026, the Directorate of Education, in collaboration with ANIIMS and the Health Department, has constituted a dedicated committee to provide support to needy students.
The committee aims to address the psychological challenges that students, particularly first-time AISSE candidates, may encounter during the examination period. The initiative is designed to provide timely assistance, counselling and guidance to help students manage stress and maintain mental well-being.

Students experiencing stress or seeking guidance can directly contact committee members through designated phone numbers. The committee comprises officials and mental health professionals from ANIIMS, the Tele MANAS initiative under NTMHP, and school leadership across the Union Territory.
Committee members include Anand Lingeswaran, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry, ANIIMS/GBPH (contact: 9443492050); clinical psychologists Nidhi Prakash (9538274075) and Shymali Singh (9476055092) from Tele MANAS (NTMHP); Bindu Verma, Vice Principal, GSSS Campbell Bay (7695086894); Pankajakshan Nair, Vice Principal, PM SHRI GSSS Prothrapur (9474260777); and Sushim Kumar Biswas, Vice Principal, PM SHRI GSSS Rangat (9434272035).
The committee’s outreach is focused on ensuring that students have access to professional mental health guidance during the critical examination phase. Students are encouraged to seek support proactively to reduce the impact of stress on their academic performance and overall well-being.
This initiative reflects a growing recognition of the psychological pressures faced by students at key academic milestones and underscores the role of educational and health institutions in providing structured mental health support. By offering direct access to mental health professionals and school authorities, the committee seeks to create a supportive environment where students can address anxieties, develop coping strategies and approach examinations with confidence.
The establishment of this committee marks a targeted intervention to safeguard student mental health and promote holistic well-being across the Union Territory during the 2026 examination cycle.
