Political leaders across party lines and central armed police forces on Saturday extended greetings to the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on the occasion of its 62nd Raising Day, acknowledging the force’s role in border guarding, internal security and public service.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated SSB personnel and their families, highlighting the force’s contributions in safeguarding national frontiers and supporting citizens during crises. In a message posted on social media, he paid tribute to personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, noting their sacrifices in the service of the nation.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also conveyed his greetings, describing the SSB as a symbol of service, security and dedication. He praised the force’s commitment to protecting the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country, extending best wishes to personnel and their families.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari lauded the preparedness and bravery of SSB personnel, stating that the force remains ever ready to serve the nation. Similar sentiments were echoed by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who highlighted the discipline and dedication of the SSB in strengthening border security and internal stability.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in his message, commended the loyalty and dedication of the force in protecting India’s borders, calling its service an inspiration to citizens. The Indian National Congress also paid tribute, saluting the courage, discipline and sacrifice of SSB personnel in safeguarding the country’s frontiers.

Greetings also poured in from other central armed police forces. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) said its leadership and all ranks saluted the SSB’s history, dedication and sacrifices in service to the nation. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) similarly congratulated the SSB, honouring its legacy of service, security and camaraderie in guarding the nation’s borders.

The SSB, raised in 1963, plays a key role in guarding India’s borders and contributing to internal security, disaster response and civic action programmes. Over the decades, it has expanded its mandate while remaining a critical component of the country’s security architecture.

As the force marked its 62nd Raising Day, messages from political leaders and security agencies underscored widespread recognition of the SSB’s role and the continued relevance of its service in a complex security environment.
