Aberdeen Police Nab Robbery Suspect Within 60 Minutes of Complaint

Date:

A robbery reported early this morning in the Sri Vijay Puram area was swiftly cracked within an hour, thanks to the prompt and efficient investigation led by Sub-Inspector Nixon Isaac and his team from the Aberdeen Police Station.

The victim, Rakesh Kr Das (24), son of Lakshman Das and a resident of Diglipur, had recently joined VKV School, Rangat, as a GGT Mathematics teacher. While travelling for work, he became the target of a theft between 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM near the STS Bus Terminus, Sri Vijaya Puram.

According to his statement, Rakesh had placed his backpack on the front row bench near the enquiry counter and walked a short distance to check the status of his bus. Upon returning, he discovered that his bag had gone missing.

The stolen backpack contained a dark blue HP Victus laptop, charger, important government-issued documents (Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, Voter ID), an SBI ATM card, and ₹2,500 in cash.

A breakthrough came when an elderly municipal worker, during her morning rounds, noticed the backpack lying unattended on a table outside the closed Shriya Textile shop nearby. Sensing something unusual, she promptly informed Murugan, a bus ticket keeper at the terminal, who, in turn, alerted Raj Kumar, the on-duty security guard at STS. On learning about the incident, Rakesh rushed to the Aberdeen Bazaar Police Station and filed a formal complaint.

In a swift and efficient response, SI Nixon Isaac and his team launched an immediate investigation. Leveraging CCTV footage and conducting quick ground checks, they were able to identify and apprehend the primary suspect within an hour of the complaint being filed.

Police sources revealed that the suspect admitted to selling the stolen bag to another individual, who is yet to be traced. Efforts are currently underway to locate this second individual and recover the remaining items.

An FIR has been registered, and the investigation remains active.

The quick response by the Aberdeen Police has drawn widespread appreciation, with many residents praising the coordination between alert citizens and proactive law enforcement.
