Sri Vijaya Puram, August 12: The South Andaman District Administration has directed all societies registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, to submit updated organisational records and complete mandatory enrolment on the Government of India’s NGO Darpan portal within 30 days, as part of measures aimed at improving transparency in information sharing and maintaining an updated database.
The directive applies to all registered societies and organisations in South Andaman, including associations, youth clubs, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), temple committees, Mahila Mandals, churches, mosques and schools registered under the Act.
According to the notification issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, the organisations have been instructed to furnish several documents and details within 30 days from the publication of the press note. These include their annual audit reports, the Permanent Account Number (PAN) of the society, the society’s bank account number, and the list of current office-bearers and other members.
The administration has also asked societies to provide the addresses, phone numbers and email IDs, wherever available, of their office-bearers and members as part of the updated records to be maintained by the district administration.
In addition to submitting these details, every society registered with the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, has been directed to enrol on the NGO Darpan portal created by the Government of India. After completing the registration process on the portal, organisations must submit confirmation of enrolment to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office within the same 30-day period.
The administration said the directions have been issued in line with Government of India instructions to ensure greater transparency in information sharing and to maintain an updated database of registered organisations operating in the district.
The notification also cautions that failure to comply with the prescribed requirements within the stipulated period may invite action against the concerned society in accordance with the law.
The district administration has called upon all affected organisations to complete both the submission of records and NGO Darpan enrolment within the prescribed timeline to ensure compliance with the directive.
