The District Administration of South Andaman has intensified its coordinated eviction efforts aimed at reclaiming and safeguarding government land from illegal encroachments. As part of its ongoing initiative to protect public property and ensure lawful land use, officials carried out a demolition operation in Nayashahar village, reclaiming revenue land that had been occupied through unauthorized construction.
In the latest phase of the anti-encroachment drive, authorities successfully demolished an under-construction reinforced cement concrete (RCC) residential structure built without authorization on government revenue land. The operation was executed using heavy machinery, including a Hitachi excavator, ensuring the complete removal of the structure and subsequent clearance of the site. Following the action, an estimated 50 square meters of land was officially restored to the government’s revenue records.
The eviction, part of a broader campaign led by the District Administration, reflects the administration’s firm commitment to preserving public assets and enforcing the rule of law. Officials reiterated that the misuse of government land not only violates legal provisions but also undermines the equitable use of resources meant for public benefit.
The South Andaman Administration reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy towards encroachment and warned that similar illegal constructions or land occupations will invite immediate action. Citizens have been urged to refrain from occupying public land without proper authorization and to assist the administration in protecting and maintaining public assets.
The district authorities have also provided multiple contact options for citizens wishing to report encroachments or seek clarification regarding land ownership. Residents can reach the District Control Room through helpline numbers 03192-240127, 238881, 1070, or via WhatsApp at 9531888844. The administration has assured that the identities of individuals providing such information will remain confidential to ensure public cooperation and trust.
The intensified eviction drive forms part of a long-term strategy by the South Andaman Administration to curb illegal land use and restore government assets for legitimate development purposes. By reclaiming encroached land and preventing further unauthorized occupation, the administration aims to reinforce transparency, fairness, and accountability in land governance across the district.
This latest operation in Nayashahar highlights the administration’s proactive approach toward protecting community resources. The renewed focus on eviction measures, coupled with citizen awareness and reporting mechanisms, marks a significant step toward ensuring the integrity of public land holdings in South Andaman.
