The South Andaman district administration has initiated action against fresh encroachments on government land, removing temporary structures identified during a recent inspection at Dudh Line village and reiterating its strict policy against illegal occupation of public land.
According to an official communication issued from Sri Vijaya Puram on March 11, the Revenue authorities detected fresh encroachments during field inspections carried out in the area. The inspection revealed that two temporary structures along with three fencing installations had been erected on government land without authorization.
Officials stated that immediate action was taken after the illegal occupation was identified. The Revenue authorities promptly removed the temporary structures and fencing to restore the land to its original status. The swift action was carried out as part of the district administration’s continued efforts to safeguard government land and ensure compliance with legal provisions governing land ownership and use.
The district administration emphasized that encroachment on government land remains a serious violation and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Authorities reiterated that strict measures will continue to be adopted to prevent unauthorized occupation of public property across the district.
Encroachment on government land has been a persistent concern in several parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, particularly in areas experiencing population pressure and urban expansion. The administration has been conducting periodic inspections and surveys to identify and remove such encroachments while also taking preventive steps to deter future violations.
Officials indicated that the administration is committed to maintaining transparency and ensuring that land resources meant for public use are protected from illegal occupation. Government land is often earmarked for essential infrastructure, public services and development projects, making its protection a priority for authorities.
The recent action at Dudh Line village forms part of a broader enforcement strategy aimed at strengthening monitoring mechanisms and preventing fresh encroachments. District officials have been carrying out field visits and inspections to identify unauthorized structures at an early stage so that timely corrective measures can be taken.
The administration has also issued a warning to individuals and entities who attempt to encroach upon government land. Authorities have made it clear that any attempt to illegally occupy public land will invite strict legal action in accordance with existing regulations.
At the same time, the administration has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities in protecting government land. Residents have been advised to strictly adhere to legal provisions governing land use and ownership and to refrain from engaging in activities that may result in unauthorized occupation.

Public cooperation has been highlighted as an important factor in preventing such violations. Citizens have been encouraged to report instances of encroachment or suspicious activity related to land occupation so that authorities can intervene at the earliest stage.
Officials noted that safeguarding government land is essential for planned development and for ensuring that public resources remain available for community welfare projects and infrastructure expansion. Encroachment not only disrupts land records but also creates complications for future development initiatives.
The district administration reaffirmed that monitoring drives and inspections will continue in different parts of South Andaman to identify and remove unauthorized structures. Such measures, authorities said, are necessary to maintain the integrity of government land and uphold the rule of law.
The action at Dudh Line village is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to enforce land regulations and prevent illegal occupation, as authorities continue to emphasize compliance with legal norms and responsible land use across the district.
