South Andaman District Planning Committee to Review Action Plans

Three-day session to discuss 2026-29 Annual Action Plan and Supplementary Proposals

The District Planning Committee (DPC) of South Andaman District, including the Campbell Bay revenue area, is set to convene a three-day session from September 22 to 24, 2025, under the chairmanship of Prakash Adhikari, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman. The meeting will take place in the Conference Hall of the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, bringing together DPC members, special invitees, and heads of departments responsible for plan implementation.

The primary focus of the meeting is to deliberate upon the three-year Annual Action Plan for 2026-2029, as well as Supplementary Action Plan proposals for 2025-2026 from all government departments under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. This includes submissions from Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies across the South Andaman District.

The schedule for the three-day session is organized department-wise to ensure detailed discussions:

September 22, 2025: Departments of Health, RD/PRIs, Power, District Administration, Agriculture, APWD, Shipping, PMB, Industries, AH&VS, and SVPMC.

September 23, 2025: Departments of Fisheries, Art & Culture, IT, Education, JNRM, ANCOL, DBRAIT, TGCE, Law College, Social Welfare, Environment & Forest, CS&CA, Labour, Employment & Training, Transport, and RCS.S.

September 24, 2025: Departments of Police & Fire Brigade, IP&T, Government Press, Civil Aviation, Sports & Youth Affairs, Judiciary, District Jail, Tribal Welfare, Personnel (Cash), DA&B, Disaster Management, Science & Technology, and DES.

Officials indicated that the deliberations will cover departmental targets, proposed schemes, budget allocations, and implementation strategies. The discussions are expected to ensure effective coordination between departments, PRIs, and urban local bodies to align developmental initiatives with the district’s strategic priorities.

The DPC meeting serves as a key forum for integrated planning at the district level, allowing stakeholders to review progress, assess gaps, and approve actionable strategies that address the socio-economic needs of the community. By reviewing both the three-year plan and supplementary proposals, the committee aims to streamline resource utilization and optimize the impact of government programs across South Andaman.

Shri Prakash Adhikari emphasized the importance of participatory planning, noting that the active involvement of department heads, PRIs, and urban bodies is crucial for translating plans into tangible outcomes for residents.

The committee sessions are also expected to highlight innovative approaches for improving service delivery, infrastructure development, and welfare schemes, while taking into account local priorities and emerging challenges in sectors ranging from health and education to disaster management and tribal welfare.
