Shribash Das Elected Zilla Parishad Chief in North & Middle Andaman

Mayabunder, April 30:
In a key development in local governance, the Zilla Parishad of North and Middle Andaman conducted its election for the posts of Adhyaksh and Up-Adhyaksh for the 4th-year term today. The election was overseen by Deputy Commissioner Nandini Maharaj, IAS, at the District Office Conference Hall in Mayabunder.

Following due electoral procedures, Shribash Chandra Das, Zilla Parishad Member from the Madhupur constituency, emerged victorious as the Adhyaksh (Chairperson). R. Madhavan, representing the Nimbutala constituency, was elected as the Up-Adhyaksh (Vice Chairperson).

The elections come as part of the democratic rotation of leadership roles in Panchayati Raj institutions, aimed at ensuring fair representation and active participation from various constituencies. The election proceedings were held in accordance with existing rules and administrative protocols, with participation from elected members of the Zilla Parishad across the district.

Officials reported a smooth and transparent election, lauding the efficient conduct by the local administration. Maharaj emphasized the importance of grassroots leadership in addressing developmental challenges and ensuring efficient delivery of welfare schemes in rural regions.

The newly elected Adhyaksh, Shribash Das, thanked the members for their confidence and reaffirmed his commitment to community development. “Our collective aim will be to enhance public services, empower panchayats, and ensure equitable development across all blocks,” he stated.

The Up-Adhyaksh, R. Madhavan, echoed similar sentiments, promising support in strengthening infrastructure, education, health, and connectivity in the rural interiors of North and Middle Andaman.

With the new leadership in place, expectations are high for improved synergy between the Zilla Parishad and the district administration in implementing government schemes and local initiatives, particularly in tribal and remote areas.
