A padyatra marking Shaheed Diwas was organised in Sri Vijaya Puram under the theme “MY Bharat MY Responsibility,” bringing together youth participants to pay tribute to martyrs and promote civic responsibility and national unity.
The event was conducted by MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram, in association with Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE). The programme focused on honouring the sacrifices of martyrs while encouraging youth engagement in nation-building, in line with the objectives of the MY Bharat campaign.
Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, Purva Garg, attended the programme as chief guest and flagged off the rally. Addressing the participants, she highlighted the significance of remembering the sacrifices made by martyrs and underscored the role of youth in strengthening civic responsibility, discipline, and unity in society.
Principal of TGCE, Manjulata Rao, was also present during the programme. The event commenced with a welcome address by the Joint Director of MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram, who received the chief guest and other dignitaries at the venue.
The padyatra began from Shaheed Smarak at TGCE and moved along a designated route covering Bengali Club Junction, Model School, Clock Tower, and Narayan Chowk before concluding at the National Memorial Cellular Jail. The route connected key public locations, symbolically reinforcing the message of collective responsibility and remembrance.
Around 150 participants, including students and volunteers, took part in the rally. The participants carried the National Flag and placards displaying messages such as “MY Bharat MY Responsibility,” “Viksit Bharat – Youth for Nation,” “Salute to Our Martyrs,” and “Unity, Discipline and Responsibility.” Slogans reflecting these themes were raised throughout the procession.
At the concluding point at Cellular Jail, participants paid tribute to martyrs and reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals of sacrifice, unity, and nation-building. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Gopal Ch Biswas, APS (OSD), MY Bharat, according to a press release issued by MY Bharat.
The programme recorded active participation and conveyed a message centred on civic duty, national pride, and youth involvement in public life.
