Greater Noida, May 27: The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate on Wednesday imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) across Noida and Greater Noida ahead of Bakrid celebrations, banning unauthorised gatherings, protests and processions as part of heightened security measures to maintain public order and communal harmony.
The restrictions, which will remain in force from May 28 to May 30, were announced through an official order issued by the office of the Police Commissioner. Authorities said the measures were introduced in view of Eid-ul-Adha prayers, qurbani rituals and the possibility of protests or attempts by anti-social elements to disturb peace during the festival period.
Under the prohibitory order, no assembly of five or more people will be allowed to organise demonstrations, rallies or processions without prior permission from the Police Commissioner, Additional Police Commissioner or Deputy Police Commissioner.
Police authorities stated that the restrictions were preventive in nature and aimed at ensuring peaceful observance of Bakrid across the Delhi-NCR satellite cities.

The order also prohibits photography and videography using drone cameras during the restricted period. Officials said the step was taken to strengthen surveillance control and prevent misuse of aerial devices in sensitive areas.
The police administration further reiterated existing restrictions on loudspeakers and sound-amplifying devices at religious places, public gatherings and processions. The use of loudspeakers remains prohibited between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. in accordance with existing regulations.
Authorities have additionally banned the display of religious flags, banners, posters and related material at religious sites, walls and public spaces without authorisation. Officials indicated that such measures were intended to prevent communal tension and unauthorised occupation of public property.
The order also warns of strict action against individuals found circulating inflammatory speeches, videos, audio clips or social media content capable of provoking communal sentiments or disturbing public peace.
In another major restriction, the police administration imposed a complete ban on the open display and carrying of weapons in public places. The prohibited items include swords, spears, tridents, knives, axes, sticks, clubs, hockey sticks, flammable substances and explosive materials.
Consumption of alcohol and intoxicants in public places has also been prohibited during the enforcement period. The order further states that stockpiling bricks, stones, soda-water bottles or any potentially harmful material on rooftops or open spaces will invite police action.
Officials said the restrictions were part of standard precautionary arrangements commonly implemented during major religious festivals to prevent law-and-order disturbances and ensure smooth public movement.
The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate has appealed to residents to cooperate with authorities, avoid spreading rumours and immediately report suspicious activity or unlawful gatherings to the police.
Security deployment has also been intensified across sensitive locations, religious sites and public areas in Noida and Greater Noida as authorities continue monitoring the situation during the festive period.
